3 Fun Tools for Turning Photo Into Colour Scheme
What if choosing a colour palette was fun?
When you struggle with finding the right colours for your piece, it sounds like a joke. How can something complex and daunting at times be joyful and entertaining?
The answer is simple – you need smart helpers accessible to you at your fingertips.
Let’s look at online tools that let you playfully turn a photo that inspires you into a colour palette for your next artwork.
Fun tools to use:
1. Adobe Color
Out of all, this is my personal favourite. It has the best mix of simplicity, flexibility, and fun. Upload a photo of your choice and get a palette of 5 colours. The best thing is you can see the exact spots those hues come from. With 5 colour pickers at your disposal, you can explore the image and adjust the selected values. You can also switch between moods to get the most suitable starting point.

2. CSS Drive
Instead of just 5, CSS Drive gives you a whole range of colours. It turns your image into 49 squares, each with a unique hue. So you no longer have to sift through myriads of colours, but only a manageable set. You can pick 8 out of them to form a palette to see how they look together.
Another handy feature is a set of 3 palettes: light, medium, and dark. Out of them, I find the light one to be the most useful as you get a pastel representation of your picture.

3. PaletteGenerator
What is unique about this tool is that it shows you colour amounts as well. Read on the importance of knowing how much of each colour to use here.
PaletteGenerator allows you to choose how many hues your palette should have, ranging from 2 to 10. Starting from 5 colours, you can see an accurate representation of your image. Below that, from 2 to 4, the results are questionable.
